There was a strong attendance at the Burghwallis Remembrance Service held again in the playing field. Covid restrictions led to a consensus that the service should best be held in the Playing Field where the congregation could more easily spread out. Unfortunately this meant the usual accompanying band and closer gathering around the war memorial had to be avoided although a lone bugler was present to play the Last Post. Despite the temporary setting the service still captured the essence of the moment to reflect on the sacrifice made by so many that lost their lives in conflict.
The names of those lost from Burghwallis in the two World Wars were solemnly read out before the 60 people at the service before the wreaths were presented at the field altar and later relaid at the War Memorial. Father Chris Herbert led the service.
