The festive programme took off in Burghwallis recently as the annual Christmas lunch for pensioners was duly munched at the Burghwallis pub. This annual event, organised by the parish council, is supported by funds raised from the rent of the Poor’s field. Over 40 of our silver senior residents attended the the three course lunch which was regarded as being of a very high standard. This was down to the new managers and chef that run the Burghwallis pub who have upgraded the standard of fare considerably since they took over just a few months ago. After the meal, coffee and mince pies were served whilst the group were entertained by the ever popular “Singing Farmer.”
