Our favourite stretch of the A1 also known as the “Things that go bump in the night – and day” route ( it has the highest accident rate in the country) is being repaired over the next six weeks. Apparently it involves some emergency crash barrier repairs. Average 50 mph speed restrictions are in place, not that most of us using this stretch of tarmac south of the M62 on a normal day with the traffic congestion ever get to those dizzy heights of double digit speeds
