Life as we know it goes into hibernation once again, or to be colloquially correct; ‘fastened in’. The impact of the lockdown has affected the form of the Remembrance celebration scheduled for 8th November. The amended celebration will now take place at 1.00 p.m. in the Burghwallis Playing Field (opposite the war memorial). A smaller gathering, complete with a bugler, and observing social distancing will assemble to remember those we have lost in past conflicts, and perhaps a chance to reflect on the current fight against this wretched virus.
The church is closed both by the Government lockdown and also structural failure as the north roof has suffered from partial collapse. It is hoped the repairs can be completed during the lockdown such the eventual reopening can coincide with our emergence form the lockdown.
